Travel & immigration reminders

Flying into Clark from overseas? The Bureau of Immigration issued an eTravel reminder on October 5, covering arriving foreign and Filipino passengers and departing Filipino passengers. Check the current instructions on the official eTravel website when preparing your trip, and make sure your travel details are accurate.

For visitors extending their stay, the BI eServices portal lists tourist visa extensions and visa waivers. Check the requirements for your own status before applying, and keep your permitted-stay deadline in your calendar.

Place of interest: Plaza Anghel

For a relaxed outing this month, head to Plaza Anghel in Barangay Sto. Rosario, beside Museo ning Angeles and opposite the Holy Rosary church. SunStar’s October 12 report describes the seasonal bibingka and puto bumbong stalls that began trading in September, with traditional hot chocolate available nearby.

Puto bumbong is steamed rice cake, while bibingka is a baked rice cake often associated with the Christmas season. The report quotes one vendor’s classic puto bumbong at ₱70 and special bibingka at ₱90, with richer versions costing more. Those are reported stall prices, so check the menu when you arrive. Bring small peso notes and leave room to try something warm.

Our suggested outing: explore the church surroundings, stop for a snack, then browse the nearby Nepo area for something to take home. Check museum opening hours separately if you want to go inside; the food stop can still make a pleasant visit on its own.

Around Angeles & Clark

A new stop for local gifts. Nepo Mart ceremonially launched Pasalubong Avenue on October 9, according to a press release published by CLTV36 on October 12. It brings together local delicacies, crafts, souvenirs and other homegrown products. For tourists, it is a handy addition to a downtown visit; for expats, it is a place to look for gifts with a Pampanga connection. “Pasalubong” means a gift brought home from a trip.

The weather is changing. PAGASA announced the end of the southwest monsoon on October 5. Its October outlook still includes thunderstorms, low-pressure areas and possible tropical cyclones. A seasonal change is not a guarantee of dry weather: check PAGASA’s latest forecast before an outdoor excursion or airport transfer.

Dollar–peso exchange rate

Market quote recorded 14 October 2026 · Publication snapshot · Investing.com USD/PHP

The dollar has been doing a little dancing of its own. It was around ₱62.88 on September 14 and was about ₱62.82 when this issue was prepared on October 14: a dip of roughly 0.1%, so the peso is a touch stronger and the month has been broadly steady overall. Along the way, the market briefly reached about ₱63.10 on October 8, after dipping near ₱62.26 on September 25.

For anyone living on dollar income or bringing dollars for a holiday, peso spending power at this issue’s quoted rate was much the same as a month earlier. US$100 worked out to about ₱6,282 before fees—roughly ₱6 less than at the September 14 rate. Plenty of movement on the chart, very little change to the dinner budget. Your bank or money changer’s rate will differ from the market quote.
