Retirement visa & immigration reminders
Thinking about a longer stay? The Philippine Retirement Authority’s SRRV programme offers Classic and Courtesy options with different eligibility and deposit requirements. Its expanded programme guidance, issued in August 2025, sets a minimum age of 40 for principal applicants. Classic deposits range from US$15,000 to US$50,000 depending on age and pension status; Courtesy has separate categories and deposit amounts. Check the official requirements for your own circumstances before applying.
One useful distinction: SRRV holders are exempt from the Bureau of Immigration’s Annual Report. Other registered foreign residents should check the rules for their visa category and the published deadline for the relevant year. The BI’s 2026 reporting window was January 1–March 1; that notice does not establish the dates for a later year.
Place of interest: Mount Pinatubo
For a day out beyond Angeles, Mount Pinatubo via Capas combines a 4×4 ride through lahar country with a trek to the crater lake. It is an outing to arrange ahead, with plenty to look at along the way.
Arrange the visit with the Capas tourism office or an accredited operator before travelling. Confirm whether the route is open, your pickup time, the full price, and any passport, clearance or health-document requirements. Bring water, sun protection and suitable footwear, and follow local weather and access advisories.
Planning a Vietnam trip
Cebu Pacific’s August 7 announcement scheduled the return of Hanoi–Clark flights for November 20, 2026. Its network advisory, updated June 6, listed Clark–Hanoi services as suspended from May 2 to October 25. Check the airline’s booking timetable for your travel dates before making plans.
